In less than a week, student activists from New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District will be holding their Town Hall for Our Lives.

The town hall will take place in the meeting room of the Union Municipal Building from 7 to 9 p.m. Both Democratic and Republican candidates running for NJ07’s seat in the House of Representatives will be in attendance. At the event, they will answer a variety of questions from constituents on the issue of gun control, and the effects this particular topic has on the lives of residents of the District.

This event is part of a nationwide program called Town Hall for Our Lives. The program was started as a collaboration between Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg and the nationwide grassroots organization Town Hall Project. Throughout April’s congressional recess, elected officials across the nation will be holding town halls. Many town halls took place on April 7 as part of a national movement. Although our town hall did not take place on that date, it still will follow the values of the movement in its goal to provide constituents of our own district a place to voice their concerns and ask questions on the topic of gun control.
