WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield PTC’s special education committee will present the 24th Annual Awareness Expo the evening of Wednesday, March 15, at Edison Intermediate School. The event, which is free and open to the public, was created to provide parents and educators of children with special needs with information and resources to aid in their ongoing education and growth.

“The expo is a fantastic opportunity for parents, professionals and the community to come together and share their knowledge and love for our children,” Julie Steinberg, expo committee co-chair, said. “I look forward to this every year. Now more than ever, it is critical that we unite and work to join together to improve our shared understanding, focus efforts to be more inclusive and continue to emphasize our commitment to kids with special needs, their families and the great educators like those in Westfield public schools.”

With an estimated 300 attendees anticipated, the expo will feature several well-regarded specialists and speakers from all across the tri-state area who will present their topics twice during the evening in small break out sessions, including “Dispelling Dyslexia: Overcoming the Myths and Misconceptions,” “The State of Special Education Law: Trends in Today’s Climate” and “Twice Exceptional: Gifted and Challenged — How do we Meet Their Needs?”

Fortunately, there is a terrific candidate in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District who can beat incumbent Leonard Lance. That candidate is Tom Malinowski.

I'm a lifelong New Jersey resident -- including ...
