CRANFORD - Playgrounds blocked off with caution tape have been a common scene during the pandemic, something that is no longer the case.

Playgrounds across Cranford reopened Thursday, following their prolonged closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The reopening comes with Cranford reporting just five new coronavirus cases since June 18. The total number of coronavirus cases in Cranford stands at 490 as of July 1.

According to Cranford Mayor Patrick Giblin, all playgrounds have received installation of engineered wood fiber, which was planned prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
