Scotch Plains Filmmaker Selected for Garden State Film Festival

ASBURY PARK, NJ -- Chris Neptune's Magic, directed by Scotch Plains resident Adam Chinoy, will screen at the 2018 Garden State Film Festival in Asbury Park on Saturday, March 24, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Berkeley Hotel Kingsley Ballroom. The 16th annual film festival runs from March 22-25, 2018.

Chinoy, who turns 35 in May, describes himself as a very creative person, says that "ideas are always stirring up" in his head.

"The music video concept came to me after listening to the song a few times while driving my car. I get some of my best ideas while driving because I'm the most relaxed and enjoy the ride," Chinoy explained. "After listening to the song a few times, I knew I wanted to do something upbeat and with animation, which would require green screen and a flying carpet.  I told the band, and they were totally for it."

The music video took two days to film and weeks to edit.

I kept revising the video until I got it right; I wanted it to look perfect," Chinoy said. "The video also includes animation of Brandon Kratky, whom I've collaborated with many times before."

Adam Chinoy runs a production company called Green Gecko Films.  He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University's Electronic Filmmaking Program in the Spring of 2005. He says that storytelling has always been the biggest part of his life. He credits his training at FDU for teaching him how to take his art to a new level.

"I've had two other music videos play the Garden State Film Festival in the past, including one which won Best Comedy Music Video of 2015," Chinoy said. "I'm looking forward in returning this year."

Individual screening tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. Weekend passes are $50 in advance and $55 at the door. Day Passes are also available. For tickets, visit the festival box offices or for more information about this film and to buy tickets online.

The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) was envisioned by 25-year film industry veteran Diane Raver and the late Hollywood actor Robert Pastorelli in 2002 and launched the following year. Since 2003, thousands of films have made their public premiers, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world have attended.

“We are excited to present Chris Neptune's Magic as a part of our 16th Annual Film Festival in Asbury Park, and shine a spotlight on the extraordinary talent from our state,” says Lauren Concar, the festival’s executive director.

Proud to support Tom Malinowski for Congress

March 8, 2018

Every single day, whether I want to be or not, I am reminded how important it is that Democrats gain control of the House of Representatives in November and check Donald Trump. Fortunately, there is a terrific candidate in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District who can beat incumbent Leonard Lance. That candidate is Tom Malinowski.

I'm a lifelong New Jersey resident -- including ...
