METUCHEN, NJ -- St. Joseph High School's basketball team takes on South Brunswick for the GMC County Championship on Thursday, Feb. 25 at Kean University in Union at 8:00 p.m. It will be the Falcons' ninth straight trip to the county championship game. 

The team is led by 6' 6 guard/forward Tyus Battle, who averages nearly 20 points per game and will play at Syracuse next year, and Breein Tyree, who averages nearly 16 points per game and has committed to Ole Miss. St. Joe's also produced Minnesota Timberwolves' rookie sensation Karl Anthony Towns, the NBA's No. 1 overall pick, who won the NBA Skills Competition during the league's All-Star Weekend on Feb. 13

On Saturday, Feb. 20, the top-seeded St. Joseph Falcons (14-3-3) defeated No. 2 Woodbridge, 4-3, on Thomas Bauer's third period goal to win their fifth straight GMC County championship. St. Joe's is the No. 7 seed in the Non-Public bracket and will face No. 10 Bergen Catholic on Friday.
