ELIZABETH, NJ - Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center held their annual Holiday Party for patients and their families on Dec. 14.  Patients, family and friends gathered with staff from Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology to celebrate the holiday season with food, song, sweets and of course Santa Claus.

The theme this year was Mardi Gras, with beads and masks for everyone along with plenty of food, friendship, raffle prizes and goodie bags for all of the cancer patients.

Guests traveled freely from the main floor, 1st. floor and 3rd. floor meeting and greeting the Physicians, Nurses, Therapists and all staff that had provided care. They also enjoyed different amenities on each floor.

Veronica Price led the planning committee and greeted performer Thos Shipley who entertained everyone with his sultry, Jazz infused renditions of several Christmas favorites. Shipley who reigns from Roselle Park and serves as 5th. Ward Councilman, has dedicated his singing talents twice over the last three Holiday events.

Santa shared in the holiday cheer and an 8x10 photo with Santa was provided for each family to commemorate the event.

Other highlights of the celebration included an inspirational speech by Medical Director Dr. B. Levinson, and a dance segment performed by the Community Recreation Department Dance Team.

The event was also supported by Tina Zagha and Mary Jo Daniels from Terrence C Reilly School Number 7 from Elizabeth, who contributed the goodie bags for the patients. Bergen Pharmacy, Bob’s Pharmacy, Jewish Family Services and Kindred Hospice, who contributed to the raffle prizes.

The Cancer Center is very grateful for the support from everyone who participated this year, said Price. “From the staff to to everyone who volunteered their time, on behalf of Trinitas and our Patients and their families, we say a great big “Thank you!”
