UNION COUNTY, NJ -- Parallel Universe/FRC Team 1257 from Union County Vocational-Technical Schools (UCVTS) competed and won at the FIRST Mid Atlantic Robotics District Championship.

After a grueling schedule of qualifying matches, the UCVTS team was chosen to be part of the top seeded alliance for the playoff rounds. Together with its alliance partners, Team 225 from York, PA, and Team 341 from Ambler, PA, the students made it through the playoffs to take home the winner's banner.

With the win, Team 1257 has qualified for a spot at the World Championship and will be competing there for the first time since the 2005 season. The event brought together the top 60 teams from New Jersey, Delaware, and Eastern Pennsylvania to compete for spots at the FIRST World Championship.

"Thanks to support from our school, community, and sponsors, we are proud to be representing our school district and Union County next week in St. Louis," said Peter Capodice, UCVTS Superintendent of Schools.

Reaching this new level of competition brings additional expenses for the team, which is in the middle of a fundraising and sponsorship drive.
