Update: At approximately 5:30 p.m., Police Chief Ryan Greco shared the following message with TAPinto Cranford.
"Patrol Units responded this morning shortly after 6am for a water main break at the intersection of E. North Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue. New Jersey American Water was able to contain the break to a few businesses and residences on North Avenue, by installing an additional shut off in the area of North Avenue in the area of John St. Crews are working around the clock to hopefully repair the leak before the Monday morning commute. The Cranford Police Department, Cranford Office of Emergency Management, Cranford Fire Department, New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey American Water, and The Township Committee are working in conjunction to assure that public is informed of this inconvenience. Although water pressure is low, New Jersey American Water has continued to test the water and at this time there is NO boil advisory in effect.
We will continue to monitor the situation, and advise of any major updates.
Update: At approximately 9:23 a.m. on Monday morning, the Cranford Police Department advised drivers to expect delays as a portion of the roadway will be paved by the utility company. Traffic will be narrowed to one lane in both directions on North Avenue E.
