EDISON, NJ -- All three Wardlaw-Hartridge varsity winter teams prevailed at the third annual Winter Games on Jan. 6. Students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and friends attended the event, which was run by the Booster Club.

Junior Priya Golding of North Plainfield led the girls’ basketball team to its first victory of the season, scoring 19 points to fuel a 33-14 win over East Brunswick Vo-Tech. In the second game of the girl-boy doubleheader, Junior Shalon Wallace of Irvington netted 16 points to propel the W-H boys to a 51-40 win. Freshmen Logan D’Amore of Scotch Plains and Zach Brown of South Plainfield and junior Jason Yin of Scotch Plains won two individual events apiece to power the swim team to a 108-50 victory over Perth Amboy.

The Booster Club sold refreshments and W-H apparel and gear to the many fans in attendance. They also sponsored an exciting half-court shot fundraiser which saw many attempts hit the backboard and rim, but none went through the net for the $50 gift card prize.

Young alumni returned to their alma mater to participate in an Alumni vs. Boosters and Coaches basketball game in the evening. The alumni held off a late rally and posted a 46-36 victory against a team of coaches, staff, alumni and Booster Club members. Ian English of Cranford, a graduate from the Class of 2011, hit four 3-pointers and led all scorers with 12 points for the winners.
