Wardlaw-Hartridge Safety Ambassadors Instruct Second Grade Students

EDISON, NJ -- Safety ambassadors at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison delivered the first of two interactive instructional sessions with the second graders on Feb. 7 in the Lower School STEM Lab.

Juniors Cathy Bi of Edison and Jason Yin of Scotch Plains provided instruction on Safety In and Around Cars and seniors Samantha Anastasiou of Scotch Plains and Scott Hargrove of Fanwood addressed Pedestrian Safety. Next month, fellow safety ambassadors Manasvinee Mayil Vahanan of Edison, Amaan Bhojani of Avenel, Ovidio Chavez of Elizabeth and Brittney Wilson of North Plainfield will discuss How to Prevent Falls and Proper Use of Helmets in Wheeled Sports with the second graders.

The Safety Ambassador Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is a learning experience that helps children understand the importance of practicing safe behaviors at home, in the car, and at play. The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s Injury Prevention Program teaches key safety messages and presentation skills to juniors and seniors from Middlesex County high schools.
