Westfield Area Y Flyers Track Team Starts the Season

The Flyers Track Club were among the 1,000 athletes that recently participated in the NJ Striders Track meet on April 23 at Hackensack High School.  The Flyers had 36 top-10 finishes and set 8 team records. 

Below is a listing of all the athletes placed in the top 10 at the April 23rd meet:

            Girl’s Ages 9-10 Division

Mychaela Fields -  2nd 100m dash and 4th in 400m dash

Emma Muir - 7th in 400m dash, 2nd in long jump and 1st in turbo javelin


Girl’s Ages 11-12 Division  

Elizabeth Koizumi – 2nd 1500m race walk


Girls’ 13-14 Division

Grace Endy – 1st 1500m race walk

Olivia Muir – 10th shotput and 9th in discus

Julia Skultety – 4th long jump

Sophie Vastine – 10th 100m dash

Margaret Zhu – 4th 1500m run


Boys 8 and Under Division

Matthew Sanchez – 10th 100m dash, 3rd long jump and 2nd shot put


Boys’ Ages 9-10 Division

Jack Fallon – 6th 100m dash

Jacob Liss – 8th 1500m run and 6th in turbo javelin

Aidan McKeon – 10th 1500m run


            Boys’ Ages 11-12 Division

            Eamon Mason – 1st 1500m run

            Orlando Guzman Jr – 2nd 400m dash, 3rd 1500m run and 7th turbo javelin

Justin Koizumi - 5th shot put and 6th discus

David Sanchez – 8th long jump

Damian Scouloukas – 6th 100m dash, 9th shot put and 2nd 80m hurdles


Boys’ 13-14 Division

Matthew Ackerman – 7th turbo javelin

            Paul Koizumi - 2nd 1500m race walk

            Braden Stryker – 2nd shot put and 2nd discus


            Boys’ 15-16 Division

            Liam Robb – 4th 400m dash and 1st 1500m run

Spring Art Show Displays Students' Creativity

CRANFORD - The Cranford High School Spring Art Show was held at the Cranford Public Library, on Tuesday. 

From 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., artwork from classes such as crafts, graphic design, photography, and drawing was on display for the public to promote the creative and unique projects done by students throughout the school year.
