Westfield Area Y Flyers Wrap Up Cross Country Season with 5 Athletes Competing at USATF National Championship

This December saw an exciting end to the 2017 Cross Country season for the Westfield Area Y Flyers. Six athletes from the team qualified for the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, FL. Five team members made the long trip to compete.

At the National meet Jasmine Parran of Westfield broke the girls 7-8 age group Flyers 2000m team record with a time of 9:29.14. Matthew Blessington (7-8), Simon Cruz (9-10), Clair Flagg (11-12) and Margaret Zhu (13-14) also competed at Nationals in Florida.

The Westfield Area Y Flyers Track Club is a USATF certified club that serves over 700 athletes throughout the year. The club has cross country, winter conditioning, and spring and summer track & field programs in Westfield and Cranford.
