Westfield Kids Plan 7th Annual Wiffle Ball Tournament to Benefit Camp for Kids with Cancer

The 7th Annual Charity Wiffle Ball Tournament benefiting Sr. Pat’s Kids Camp is set for the Friday of Memorial Day weekend.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The 7th Annual Charity Wiffle Ball Tournament benefiting Sr. Pat’s Kids Camp is set for the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. The tournament is organized by a board of four students from Westfield High School — Michael Birle, Katie Sullivan, Andrew Caminiti and Bryce Dannevig — and Delbarton student Jack Cushing.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to form teams of five to eight players. Last year, more than 300 players registered, helping to raise more than $15,000 for the a week-long summer camp in upstate New York for underprivileged children with cancer.

“The tournament board has already put in a lot of time to make sure that year's tournament will be just as fun as past years,” Birle said. “We will be ready to start the games as soon as school is out on Friday, May 26, at Tamaques Park.”

The cost is a $15 donation per player. All profits will go directly to Sr. Pat’s Kids Camp. Throughout the event there will be games and food and drinks from local stores will be sold.

“I have played in the tournament since I was four years old,” elementary school student Brody Henderson said, “and it is the best day because kids that play all different sports spend a day together just playing Wiffle Ball so we can help kids who are sick.”

For more information or to volunteer, email Katie Sullivan at katie.sully@aol.com. To register for the tournament, click here and download the sign-up sheet.

Fortunately, there is a terrific candidate in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District who can beat incumbent Leonard Lance. That candidate is Tom Malinowski.

I'm a lifelong New Jersey resident -- including ...
