Preschoolers Learn More About the World Around Them Through Enrichment Classes at the Westfield Area YMCA

At the Westfield Area YMCA Bauer Branch, preschoolers can extend their day with enrichment classes that allow them to be active, learn a craft or hobby, and explore new interests.  Classes currently offered this session include Awesome Artists, Green Thumbs, Jazzy Jewelry and Cool Crafts, Ceramics, Computers, Kid Fit, Little Rhythms, Puppet Parade, Soccer, Tumbling, Wild Science, World Chefs and more.

The World Chefs enrichment class is just one of the many fun and interesting ways for preschoolers to round out their day. “This class teaches healthy eating habits and introduces the children to new foods and cultures,” says Maria Nierstedt, Westfield Area YMCA Preschool Site Director. “The recipes are hands on so the children learn cooking can be fun and nutritious.” The recipe book will go home with the students and include everything made in class during the session including pumpkin muffins, whole wheat waffles with strawberries, alphabet vegetable soup, letter pretzels, hummus with homemade pita chips and personal pan pizza. 

Registration is going on now for all Westfield Area YMCA Early Learning programs for the 2018-2019 school year. Preschool programs are available for ages 2.5-5 years with morning, afternoon, and full-day options 2-5 days a week.  Full-day Kindergarten and Kindergarten wraparound are also offered.
