WESTFIELD, NJ — The official music video for the Kidz Bop song “Truth Hurts” out this month states in bold yellow lettering that the scene is set “Somewhere in the in USA.”

But it’s clear to people in Westfield that portions of the music video for children weren’t just filmed anywhere in the United States; they were filmed at the retro arcade YESTERcades on Broad Street.

“Over the last eight years we have been lucky enough to provide the backdrop for dozens of local and national shoots,” said Fred Logue, YESTERcades director of fun. “It is always an amazing experience to see our arcade — something that we’ve put our blood, sweat and tears into — in any sort of media.

“It’s a great feeling to know that others appreciate what we've done, and continue to do. Kidz Bop by far was the biggest, most professional production that we have been a part of, and to see the final product with all the local towns and businesses who also participated is super cool.”

Story continues below the video.

The video includes scenes shot inside YESTERcades' Westfield location and on the streets of Cranford, in addition to footage of an NJ Transit train on the move.

YESTERcades opened its third New Jersey location in Westfield in April 2018, offering what it describes as a gaming experience straight out of the “Golden Age of Arcade.”

The video was filmed Sept. 12 in Westfield, Kim Forde, spokeswoman for the town, said.

The song “Truth Hurts” is included in the Kidz Bop 40 album released Nov. 15, which can be found here.
