CRANFORD - The new 24-unit development (The Albero) located at 109 Walnut Avenue is looking for approval of its application proposing three retail tenants on the ground level.

Originally, the approximately 5,000 square feet retail space was slated to become the new location of The Kilkenny House before negotiations between the two parties broke down. With The Kilkenny House slated to remain in its current location, the applicant is now looking for approval to subdivide the space into the three seperate entities.

At the July 8 Cranford Zoning Board meeting, representatives of The Albero mentioned the three tenants would be an Ani Ramen House restaurant, a winery (name not confirmed), and a bubble tea cafe (name not confirmed).

The Ani Ramen house would be the biggest of the three spaces at 2,887 square feet with 85 seats, followed by the winery at 1,114 square feet with 16 seats, and the bubble tea shop would be 996 square feet with 12 seats.

Between the three proposed stores, there will be a combined 113 seats. It is an increase of one seat from the 112 seats the new Kilkenny was slated for.

No conclusion was reached on July 8 and the hearing will continue at the Monday, August 12 meeting.
