CRANFORD - For the first time in four years, the Orange Avenue Outdoor Pool Complex and the Centennial Avenue Indoor/Outdoor Pool Complex and Fitness Center will raise their membership fees.
The first reading for Ordinance No. 2019-02: An ordinance to amend the code of the Township of Cranford, Chapter 306 Parks and Recreation, Article III: Community Pools, Section 306-10 Pool Membership Fees, was taken up at the February 19 Township Committee Meeting, and approved with a vote of 4-0 (Commissioner Jean Maisonneuve was not in attendance).
Deputy Mayor Ann Dooley said, "With respect to this proposed ordinance, it would increase membership fees in the range of five dollars per season for the individual, five dollars for two adults, and ten dollars for two adults and two or more kids. It is generated by the change in the minimum wage law."
Fees will rise approximately 2% across the board. A Pool and Fitness Center annual membership rate for a resident will rise from $460 to $470 while a non-resident annual membership will increase to $675 from $660. Cranford outdoor pool summer membership rates for an individual resident will be $260, up from $255. For a resident family (two adults and two or more children), the rate has increased from $355 to $365.
The public hearing for Ordinance No. 2019-02 will be held at the March 5 Township Committee Meeting.
