SUMMIT, NJ - The Project SEARCH Program at Overlook Medical Center,Project a one-year intensive employment training program for young adults with disabilities, has begun recruiting students for Cohort #3, which begins in September of 2018.
Student interns spend an entire year inside Overlook Medical Center rotating through three different internship experiences where they learn marketable and transferrable job skills. The students also receive 90 minutes of classroom instruction each day on-site at the hospital.
The program is open to any high school student, age 18 - 21, with a disability and who has a desire to work. Program tuition is paid by the student's local school district, and applications for the program will be accepted through April 2018. The program anticipates accepting nine new interns for the 2018-19 school year.
Project SEARCH is an outcome-focused program. with seven out of nine students from Cohort #1 now competitively employed in the community. Cohort #2 has eight interns on-site at the hospital this year.
