RAHWAY, NJ - Rahway Mayor Samson Steinman reportedly resigned his position in a Dec. 24, 2017 email to the city clerk, citing personal matters, it was reported by NJ.com.

The Rahway Council held its reorganization meeting on Tuesday night, where the council president and vice president were scheduled to be elected.

Steinman's term as mayor runs through 2018. The Democratic Committee will submit three names for consideration to fill the Steinman's vacancy and the council will vote to seat an acting mayor who will serve the remainder of the year.
