CRANFORD - Cranford High School senior Daniel Serna is running his sixth annual school supply drive to benefit children whose families are served by Homefirst in Plainfield.

Area residents can drop off new school supplies in the donation box at the Cranford Community Center, located at 220 Walnut Avenue in Cranford from now through Wednesday, August 21st.

Homefirst Interfaith Housing & Family Services provides housing, homeless prevention assistance, and family support to help strengthen the community. New school supplies are a huge help to families who are struggling to make ends meet.

"I started this project as a 7th grader and now I’m a senior at Cranford High School and I am so grateful for all the members of the community that have made the project the success that it is," said Serna.

All new school supplies are welcome -- three-ring binders, looseleaf paper, backpacks, folders, pencils, pens, colored pencils, crayons, markers, and notebooks are all needed.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, Serna has been able to collect enough school supplies each year to provide for all of the children in Homefirst programs in Plainfield. Homefirst’s Plainfield Family Support Center now hosts an annual school supply giveaway with the supplies donated through Serna’s project.
