CRANFORD - In Union County, nearly 350 households are experiencing homelessness and more than 160 children under the age of 18 are homeless.  Fifty-eight percent of those children are under the age of six.

Family Promise of Union County (FPUC), based in Elizabeth, offers emergency shelter and services to homeless/at risk of homelessness families and individuals in Union County, through a combined system of professional staff and 1,200 volunteers from 40 interfaith congregations. In addition to shelter, FPUC offers case management, rental assistance, financial literacy, child care, transportation, and links to permanent housing. FPUC creates opportunities for families to reclaim their independence and provides services to help them rebuild their lives and focus on the future.

Providing support to neighbors in need is particularly important to Cranford State Farm Agent Denis Dankosky. ‘I’m excited to team up with Family Promise and help them receive much-needed funding,” said Denis.  “It’s vital that we not only provide homeless families with housing, but also give them the tools necessary to begin a path to a successful future.”

Throughout March, for each auto and homeowners quote request Dankosky's office receives, he will donate money to Family Promise. “I’m extremely excited to support such a great organization,” Dankosky said.

This effort is in conjunction with the State Farm Quotes for Good program where agents choose a charity as the recipient of these donations. Dankosky and his staff will identify a different non-profit each month to receive donations. He will support St. Joseph’s Social Service in April and The Elizabeth Coalition in May.

“Quotes for Good is a great way for us and our neighbors to give back to the community,” said Dankosky.  “At the same time, I can also provide customers with a comprehensive understanding of their insurance needs and coverage.”
