PATERSON, NJ- The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge is caring for 12 dogs found in an empty home in the city on Tuesday.

According to a post on the organization’s Facebook page, the dogs were “the most seriously matted and neglected” they had ever seen.

All 12 of the dogs are in need of medical care and extensive grooming, and some are unable to walk due to the sever matting. On the bright side, the post reads, “most are already seeking attention and affection.”

The shelter has asked the public for any donations which “will go directly to the care of the 12 deserving dogs.”
