Arrested: Mark Kovatch, 53, Roselle

Arrested by: Det. Robert Jordan

Charges: Possession of Prescription Legend Drugs; Possession of Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 2002 Cadillac was stopped on North Avenue East for an expired inspection decal. Following an investigation on scene, Det. Jordan arrested the driver, Mark Kovatch, for suspected Oxycodone found in his possession. He was processed and provided with a Superior Court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to make repairs, failure to maintain his lane and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

Centennial Avenue and Cayuga Road

Arrested: Nicholas Esmerado, 21, Cranford

Arrested by: Ptl. Shayne Temple

Charges: Possession of Under 50g (Marijuana); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Driving While Intoxicated

Remarks: A 2016 Jeep was stopped on Centennial Avenue as part of a DWI Checkpoint. Following an investigation on scene, Ptl. Temple arrested the driver, Nicholas Esmerado, for driving while intoxicated and possession of suspected marijuana found inside the vehicle. He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for unclear plates and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street

Arrested: Matthew King, 30, Linden; Dylan Marino, 23, Edison

Arrested by: Ptl. Gregory Federici

Charges: Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 2011 Honda was stopped on Centennial Avenue as part of a DWI Checkpoint. Following an investigation on scene, Ptl. Federici arrested the driver and a passenger, Dylan Marino and Matthew King respectively, for suspected cocaine found in their possession. They were processed and provided with Superior Court appearance dates. In addition, Marino was issued motor vehicle summonses for tinted windows, a view obstruction and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

Charges: Possession of Under 50g (Marijuana); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 2018 Hyundai was stopped on Centennial Avenue as part of a DWI Checkpoint. Following an investigation on scene, Ptl. Siessel arrested the driver, Juan Ayende, for suspected marijuana found in his possession. He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, Ayende was issued motor vehicle summonses for a seatbelt violation and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

Arrested: Ashton Lofton, 23, Hillside

Arrested by: Det. Steven D’Ambola

Charges: Driving While Intoxicated; Under the Influence

Remarks: A 2009 Nissan was stopped on Centennial Avenue as part of a DWI Checkpoint. Following an investigation on scene, Det. D’Ambola arrested the driver, Ashton Lofton, for driving while intoxicated and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, Lofton was issued motor vehicle summonses for a seatbelt violation, throwing debris from a vehicle, careless driving and the improper letting off of passengers.

County Park Drive

Arrested: Kevin Schwartz, 19, Cranford

Charges: Possession of Under 50g (Marijuana); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Remarks: A 2013 BMW was stopped on County Park Drive when an officer identified it as a suspicious vehicle. Following an investigation on scene, Ptl. Rattigan arrested the driver, Kevin Schwartz, for suspected marijuana found inside the vehicle. He was processed and provided with a Municipal Court appearance date. In addition, Schwartz was issued a motor vehicle summons for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
