CRANFORD - Following a one-year layoff due to COVID-19, The Cranford Police Department has announced the return of its annual Youth Police Academy. 

According to the release, the academy will begin Monday, July 12 and conclude on Friday, July 16. Classes are run daily from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This law enforcement educational experience is for students graduating grades 6-8 this school year.

The primary goal of the Cranford Police Youth Academy is to encourage open communication between the youth of Cranford and members of the Cranford Police Department. The program gives Cranford youth the opportunity to see some of the aspects of the Cranford Police Department and other local, state, & federal law enforcement agencies.

The deadline for applications is Friday, April 30th at 4:00 p.m. No late applications will be accepted. There is a $90 registration fee. No payment is due until acceptance into the academy. Fee includes cost of uniforms, supplies, & pizza party.
