CRANFORD - The Cranford Police Department is actively investigating a suspicious incident which occurred on Lexington Avenue, near Unami Park, in Cranford.

According to the release, on Sunday at 6:15 p.m., a 12-year old male juvenile was riding his bicycle along Lexington Avenue when an adult male in a dark-colored sedan stopped in traffic to ask the juvenile for directions and if he’d follow him. The juvenile advised the driver he wasn’t familiar with the location and continued riding his bicycle towards his home. The driver, described as a heavy-set white male, around 40 years of age and bald, was wearing a green jacket and left the area, in his vehicle, headed northwest towards Garwood. The adult male never exited his vehicle or made physical contact with the juvenile.

Of notable significance is a similar incident was reported in early October involving an adult male matching the description provided in this particular case. Cranford Police Detectives are actively attempting to gather video surveillance from the area to aid in the investigation and identify the male.
