CRANFORD, NJ – The Cranford Planning Board will hear a presentation of the Preliminary Investigation Report for North Avenue East at Wednesday night’s meeting.
The report and presentation will discuss redeveloping a large portion of North Avenue East as a “condemnation area in need of redevelopment.”
“There’s no action being taken tomorrow,” Deputy Mayor Ann Dooley, who sits on the board, said. “It’s an investigatory report. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. I’m looking forward to hearing it myself too. It’s the very start of a potential process, it’s nothing more than that.”
Since the report was published on the township website, Cranford residents have started a campaign to protest against the inclusion of the Riverside Inn, known affectionately to locals as “the Dive.”
“I have not heard that until I read social media,” Dooley told TAPinto Cranford when asked if the board intended to close the business. “This is an investigatory report, nothing more than that.”
