CRANFORD - Congratulations to this week's Cranford High School Athletes of the Week, Justin Alpaugh-McLean and Evan Kanterman.
Kanterman and Alpaugh-McLean, both seniors on the varsity wrestling team, won their respective weight class titles this weekend at the Union County Tournament and helped lead the Cougars to a 6th straight county team title.
Alpaugh-Mclean pinned Roselle Park's Jonathan Estivene in 2:48 to capture the 182-pound Union County title. Kanterman scored an 11-3 major decision over Linden's Ibn Hall in the 195-pound finals.
Alpaugh-McLean - "I was excited. I want to be able to finish my senior year and get as many wins as possible and win as many things as possible. I want to end the season doing well as a team, and in Atlantic City, hopefully."
Kanterman - "It's been fun to be a part of four (team) championships. It's been a different group of guys each year and it's been great. I definitely want to end the season in Atlantic City, hopefully on the podium."
Coach Pat Gorman - "Evan and Justin did a great job winning titles. Both are seniors and it is great to see them accomplish this mark as we move onto to bigger things."
