CRANFORD - Congratulations to this week's Cranford High School Athletes of the Week, Jack Bowers and Erin Lynskey.

Bowers and Lynskey, seniors on the varsity winter track team, competed at the Union County Relays this past weekend. Bowers threw a personal best 47.5 in the shot put to help lead the boys to the Union County Relays title. Lynskey anchored both the girls shuttle hurdles (39.00) and the 4x200m (2:02.71) relays to their best times of the season.

Bowers: "We've been working hard in the weight room getting those throws in. The process has been really paying off and I'm proud of everyone. I want to break 50 in the shot put, then try to break the school record for indoor shot put (51.6.). I think I'll be able to pull it off."

Lynskey: "With our hurdles, we're really starting to hit our strides. We've been practicing a lot on our form and different technique. We're really starting to pull together as a team, especially in the relay. I'm hoping for our 4x200 relay we can break two minutes, so we're just going to keep working on it and our acceleration to see if we can do it."
