CRANFORD - Congratulations to this week's Cranford High School Athletes of the Week, Jake Cermak and Marina Nunziato.

Cermak, a junior on the varsity bowling team, bowled a perfect game in the preliminary round of the Union County Tournament last week, helping lead the Cougars to the team finals. In the final round, he took fourth place overall in the county.

"Jake is a very dedicated bowler and a good team captain," said Cranford bowling head coach James Fealey. "His goals for next year are to lead the team to the county and state finals as a team and as an individual. He is aiming to bowl another perfect game and to leave his mark in Cranford High School bowling history."

Nunziato, a senior on the varsity swim team, took two third place finishes and had two personal best times at the Union County Championships, qualifying her for the Meet of Champions.

"As a senior, I was a little bit less nervous. It's my last time (at counties)," said Nunziato. "This is my fourth time qualifying (for the Meet of Champions). I haven't placed there yet, but hopefully this year."

Before her senior season finishes, Nunziato says she hopes to break the 50 Free and 100 Free school records.
