CRANFORD - Accompanied by family, friends, and his coaches, Liam Loughlin signed his National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at Virginia Military Institute.
"Since middle school, I've always wanted to serve Army, Navy, or whatever it be," said Loughlin. "I wasn't really getting recruited to the academy as heavily as I would have liked to. Virginia Military Institute is a great school with a great military reputation, so it was an easy fit for me there."
Loughlin mentioned that last season's 5-2 Cole's Cup victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood has been his favorite moment of high school lacrosse so far. With one more season left, Loughlin hopes to make more memories this spring and help the Cougars build off its dominant 17-3 2019 season. With nine seniors having graduated after last season, he will be in line for additional play time.
