SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The Bulldogs bounced back Saturday with a 15-9 victory against Cranford High School.  The Bulldogs jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first inning only to see Cranford narrow the lead to one run by the end of the fourth inning. 

At the end of the second inning Dayton led 10-7.  At the end of the fourth inning the score was 10-9.  Those were the last runs scored by the Cougars.  The Bulldogs had another big inning in the bottom of the fifth scoring five runs, which ended up being the final runs scored in the game.

For the game, the Bulldogs scored their 15 runs on 12 hits, six walks and three batters that were hit by a pitch.  Cranford scored their nine runs on nine hits and eight walks.

Senior Holly Wilson was the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs.  She pitched two innings and gave up seven runs.  Freshman Nicole Cataldo pitched the remaining five innings and gave up just two runs. 

Junior Maggie Phillips went five for five, scored three runs, brought in four runs and brought her batting average for the season to .500.

Senior Amanda Lau and Freshman Kaya Mahy each had two hits.  Lau knocked in four runs and Mahy knocked in three runs. 

Senior Arianna Griffith, and freshman Kolby Dagner and Abby Wilson each had a hit.  All three scored a run.  Griffith knocked in two runs and Wilson knocked in a run.

Holly Wilson scored two runs on two walks and is also batting .500.  Freshman Jesse Thompson and sophomore Haeley Santos also scored a run.

On Friday, Dayton lost to Woodbridge 11-4.  The Bulldogs are 3-4 for the season and play a 4:00 p.m. game Tuesday at 4-3 Elizabeth High School.
