Rockaway, NJ – Morris Knolls girls varsity volleyball notched another win at home against Morris Hills on Oct. 5 during the first round of the 2018 Morris County Tournament. After falling to Morris Hills in a close first set (23-25), Morris Knolls rallied back to win handily the next two (25-16, 25-12).
Senior Jackie Hyer led the way with 15 service points, 23 assists, nine digs and three aces. Her teammates also made major contributions:
Skye Eppel (junior) – 11 digs, 3 service points
Stephanie Frank (senior) – four kills, two digs, five service points
Brooke Herman (junior) – 16 kills, eight digs, three service points, two aces
Annie Nolan (sophomore) – four kills, nine digs, nine service points
Michelle Slomkowski (senior) – 47 digs, eight service points, three aces
Reagan Smith (sophomore) – three kills
Meghan Torkos (senior) – three kills
The Golden Eagles also hosted the annual Dig Pink Night on Oct. 5 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The team wore pink jerseys and collected donations from exuberant pink-clad fans.
Sixth seed Morris Knolls advances to the quarterfinal round of the tournament where it will face third seed Madison in Madison on Sat., Oct. 13.
In regular season play, the (10-5) Golden Eagles travel to Roxbury on Tues., Oct. 9, for at 7 p.m. start.
