DENVILLE, NJ - For the 17th consecutive year, Christian Drama School students and graduates carried a 12-foot-long cross four miles, from Boonton to Denville, on Good Friday.
During the annual ritual, Christian Drama School students wear Biblical costumes and carry the cross from the Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church to the Denville Community Church.
Students of the Christian Drama School of New Jersey represent 29 different churches in Morris County.
Before the carry, everyone participated in a morning performance and worship service complete with scripture, songs, dramatic dances and a message from Rev. Kim Padfield Urbanik.
Participants join with Christians who carry crosses all over the world to remember the day that Jesus died. This year, students and worshippers who followed behind the cross carried cups of water to represent the need for clean water at five schools in Uganda, Africa.
