NEWTON, NJ – Denville Township joins a growing list of students, businesses and organizations in three counties that will participate in Newton Strong Day on Thursday, May 23. On Newton Strong Day participants will wear white to honor Alexis "Lexi" Faye, a Newton High School junior who died from a post-prom car accident on Saturday, May 11, that also critically injured three of Faye's friends, Anthony Burke of Newton, Maria Fiore of Andover and Nicholas Chavarria of Newton. White was Faye's favorite color.

On Newton Strong Day, students, schools, businesses and organizations will raise funds through the sale of white ribbons and other activities to donate to the Lexi Faye Heart of Gold Lacrosse Scholarship fund. The scholarship was set up by family friends, according to Newton High School Principal Kurt Waldron, and the proceeds will benefit one Newton High School lacrosse player annually. Donations also can be made through the Lexi Faye Heart of Gold Lacrosse Scholarship gofundme page or sent directly to Newton High School c/o Lisa Casamassina. Checks should be made payable to Newton High School with the scholarship noted on the memo line.

As of May 17, the list of participating schools, businesses and organizations that have committed to participate include:
