DENVILLE, NJ - A Denville man stabbed another man "multiple times" with a knife on Jan. 15 and now faces charges including aggravated assault, police said.

The man, Joseph Kaufmann, 22, was arrested after police responded to a call at about 9 a.m. They said their probe of the incident on Riverside Drive determined that Kaufmann had stabbed a 21-year-old man at the scene.

"A lengthy investigation revealed that Joseph Kaufmann had stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife during an early morning altercation," said police. "The victim's wounds were not life-threatening."

Kaufmann was charged with 2nd-degree aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, police said. They said Kaufmann is being held in the Morris County jail pending a bail hearing.
