DENVILLE, NJ - As superintendent of Denville Schools, Steven Forte spends a lot of time reading dry, grownup stuff like reports and spreadsheets. On Thursday, Forte took a break for something more fun: He read to his youngest customers a book written by a 4th-grader.

It was Read Across America Day at Denville schools, and the superintendent found himself doing just that in front of Jamie Reilly and Meghan Conway's Kindergarten classes at Lakeview School. He chose to read "Pudgy and the Dog Treats," a book by Lakeview School 4th Grade student Catalina Sosa, a pupil in teacher Kim Urba's class.

Afterward, Forte invited Sosa to join him in front of the class for a question-and-answer period.
