DENVILLE, NJ -- Kunal Kumar and Allen Pikus from Denville partnered with the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) during the annual Summer Quest Program Field Day on Aug. 2. HEAF is a well-established college achievement nonprofit that helps more than 600 New York City public school students to graduation. HEAF aims to help middle-of-the-road students achieve academic success and develop leadership skills. At Mount Morris Park in Harlem, New York, nearly 200 students participated in field day, which is part of the Summer Quest program. These students, primarily middle schoolers, competed in numerous challenges throughout the day, such as the Dizzy Bat, Egg Walk, and Three-Legged Race, in addition to playing classic sports games like football.

Kumar and Pikus are juniors at The Academy for Math, Science, and Engineering in Rockaway and Morris Knolls High School in Denville, respectively. Over the course of the summer, they collected sports equipment from their communities through an ongoing donation drive. This equipment was used on field day and helped organize the activities. All those who donated are thanked and should be aware that their contributions helped make some kids’ days! The Hustle2Heart team feels extremely grateful to have worked with the Harlem Educational Activities Fund and looks forward to helping kids grow athletically in the future.

Kumar and Pikus founded Hustle2Heart, a nonprofit organization, in 2017, when the two were entering their freshman year of high school. Hustle2Heart aims to create a pathway to athletic success for underprivileged and at-risk children by providing them athletic resources and opportunities that they do not normally have access to. Hustle2Heart has received donations from the New York Knicks and the New York Jets. They have previously hosted donation drives and organized several sports clinics to foster a community through sports.
