Discover Winter Fun in Morris County Parks; Sledding, Ice Skating, Cross Country Skiing and Snow Shoeing

DENVILLE, NJ - You don’t have to travel far to enjoy winter fun like sledding, ice skating, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and it’s all right here in Morris County.

Welcome the snow by cross-country ski at Loantaka Brook Reservation in Morris Township, sledding down the hills at Tourne County Park in Denville or Hedden County Park in Randolph Township. Lace up your skates and glide across the ice at the flooded, in-line skating rink at Central Park of Morris County in Parsippany.

“There’s nothing more invigorating then sledding down the Doe Meadow hill at Lewis Morris County Park. The snow flies past your face, and your heart races while you speed down one of our largest sledding hills. You have to be a looking for excitement to attempt it from the top!” stated Reynold Fauci, Director of Recreation for the Morris County Park Commission.You can also join a guided snowshoe adventure at Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Natural Historic Area on select Sundays in January, February, and March. Experts are on hand to help fit your snowshoes and answer questions. If you are an experienced at snowshoeing, or prefer to venture on your own, there are one-day snowshoe rentals available at Pyramid Mountain in Montville Township.

If indoor ice skating is more your style, head over to Mennen Sports Arena and check out one of their three ice surfaces. Don’t have ice skates? No problem, rent a pair of either both hockey and figure skates are available. Sign up for a private lesson to get yourself at a level you are comfortable and can enjoy the sport.

So quit hibernating and embrace one of New Jersey’s most cherished seasons. There’s so much excitement and adventure waiting for you, don’t miss out!
