Gabel Announces Intent for Denville’s Ward Slate

It is my pleasure to announce that I will be seeking a second full term as Denville Township Ward 1 Councilman. It has been my honor and privilege to serve Denville in this capacity. Over the past 4 plus years I have focused on being fiscally responsible with annual budgets resulting in some of the lowest municipal budgets in recent history.  Ordinances and Resolutions I have supported have been focused on keeping Denville’s property values high, supported shared services, improve the quality of life for Denville’s families and position Denville with the future in mind.

I am also very pleased to share with residents the individuals I will campaign with during this year’s Ward Council elections. My running mates will be Brian Bergen, Glenn Buie and Gary Borowiec.  After discussing Denville’s future challenges with these gentlemen I am convinced that they are committed to work diligently towards addressing the challenges that will face Denville in the future.

Running in Ward 2 is Brian Bergen. He is a West Point graduate and Army Officer combat Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a small business owner as well as member of the Denville Board of Adjustment and the President of the Denville Republican Club.

Glenn Buie is running in Ward 3.  He is currently the Operations Director of a large real estate company which is traded on the NYSE. Glenn has been a member of the Denville Planning Board for 19 years and Chairman 7 times.

Running in Ward 4 is Gary Borowiec. He has a background in finance, being the owner of a Financial Planning Firm in Cranford. He was the President of Blue Angels Football for 6 years and a member of the Township Recreation Committee and Field Use Advisory Committee.

I would like to personally thank Councilmen Gene Fitzpatrick, Christopher Golinski and Donald Kuser, for their wisdom, knowledge, support and all their efforts and contributions to myself and the township of Denville as Council representatives over the past 8 years. They have served our community well and we wish them much success with their future endeavors.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (Random House, 1965)

In Cold Blood is, quite simply, the grand-daddy of true crime writing, dubbed by Capote, himself, as the first non-fiction novel (although Norman Mailer argued the point when he published The Executioner's Song in 1979.) The conditions under which I read In Cold Blood for the first time were pretty weird, which was another ...
