MORRISTOWN, NJ - Jeff Boucher, owner of Parisi Speed School of Morristown, is bringing the American Instruction Football League (AIFL) to Morris County. The AIFL is a non-profit organization designed to build self esteem in children by getting them active, teaching them football skills, and providing excellent role models to build character.

This no-contact, touch football program is currently available in Bergen County and Middlesex County but is in the process of opening a chapter in Morris County. It is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade.

According to Boucher, this program has many benefits for children interested in playing football because it allows them to learn various skills and techniques before they enter high school sports.

Although there are many different theories regarding how to introduce children to football, Boucher believes athletes should not be introduced to contact football until they are in at least middle school.

“When you take a second grader and put him in all this heavy equipment, not only does he have trouble seeing out of the sides of the helmet, but he is way more focused on bracing himself to get hit instead of the skills and techniques needed to play the game,” he said.

Also, many youth football teams have weight limits which prevent overweight/underweight players from handling the ball.

“In this program, every kid gets a chance to play all positions,” he said.

All coaches are either current or former football players who have gone through extensive training. In order to prevent injuries, participants will begin each practice with special warm up drills which help the body to prepare for practice.

All games and practices take place on Sunday and will begin on March 26th at Central Park of Morris County . For more information visit aiflag.com or contact Jeff Boucher at jboucher@aiflag.org
