April is Child Abuse Prevention Month!  The GFWC Woman’s Club of the Denville-Rockaway Area will be actively supporting the statewide Prevent Child Abuse-NJ (PCA-NJ) organization with events in our communities. Please come out to support one or more of these events!

Mara’s Café and Bakery at 25 East Main Street in Denville has volunteered to support Child Abuse Prevention Month by creating a special chocolate cupcake with blue icing for sale during April.  Fifty cents will be donated to PCA-NJ for each cupcake sold.  A special awareness day on Tuesday, April 4, will not only feature the special cupcake but 10% of all proceeds from that day will be donated to PCA-NJ.  Donations will go through the GFWC Woman’s Club of the Denville-Rockaway Area.

46 West Hair Salon located at 46 West Main Street in Rockaway will conduct a Hair-Cutathon on Sunday, April 30, from  10am to 5pm  in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended.   Call the salon at 973-551-4247.   Haircuts will cost $20.00 and all proceeds will be donated to Prevent Child Abuse-NJ though the GFWC Woman’s Club of the Denville-Rockaway Area.

Pinwheels for Prevention® are the symbol for this year’s Prevent Child Abuse-NJ awareness campaign.  The pinwheels represent “our commitment to Great Childhoods – happy and safe – for all children in our community.”  Outdoor garden pinwheel displays will be created by the GFWC Woman’s Club of the Denville-Rockaway Area at local libraries in Rockaway Township, Denville, and Mountain Lakes.  Information on child abuse prevention will also be available to the public at these locations.

The GFWC Woman’s Club of the Denville-Rockaway area, founded in 1932 is a non-profit community service organization, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others, one project at a time.

Come to one of the monthly meetings to meet and mingle with the members! To learn more about the organization, visit the GFWC Woman’s Club of Denville-Rockaway area Facebook page or  www.womansclubofdenvillerockaway.blogspot.com
