DENVILLE, NJ – Morris Knolls girls varsity lacrosse remains undefeated after five outings. This season’s fallen opponents include Wayne Valley (19-6), Randolph (22-8), West Morris (14-10), Morris Catholic (19-6) and Livingston (25-13). The Golden Eagles outscored or tied each team in every half.
When asked her goals for the team after the season-opening win on March 28, Head Coach Kayla Delgado stated she was hoping for at least a 500 record. Looks like she just might get her wish. Morris Knolls ended the 2018 season under 500 with eight wins and 11 losses.
New to varsity this season, Delgado served as head coach of Morris Knolls’s freshman girls lacrosse team for the last two years.
The varsity team’s proficient scorers include juniors Mackenzie Furlong and Emily Mitarotonda and freshmen Brianna Mennella and Kira Mennella (yes, they’re twins). The deft defensive skills of junior goalie Hailey Aber, seniors Reilly Anderson, Tori LaBanca and Cayla Jones, and junior Brielle Gavito keep scoring to a minimum.
Looking to extend their record to 6-0, the Golden Eagles will travel to Pope John on Monday, April 15, for a 4 p.m. start.
This article was updated to include Tori LaBanca on defense.
