Thursday’s win extended the team’s record to 2-4. Starting the season with four straight loses, the Golden Eagles hope they have turned a corner.

As for the sluggish start, “We lost 11 seniors and five starters,” explained Head Coach Stephan Zdanowicz. “So, we’re filling the spots, trying to find the best system and still doing a lot of teaching and learning.”

Early in the season Palma suffered a deep bone bruise and took off one game to let it rest, Zdanowicz added.

“We’ll eventually get to where we need to be. As I tell the players, ‘inconsistent effort gets inconsistent results, consistent effort gets consistent results.”

Despite Morris Knolls’s slow start, it managed to earn the fifth seed in the upcoming Morris County Tournament. The two-time defending county champion will face the winner of 12-Roxbury and 21-Villa Walsh at home. The game must be played before Sun., Sept. 29.

In regular season play, the Golden Eagles will host Randolph (5-0-1) on Tue., Sept. 24, at 4 p.m.
