DENVILLE, NJ - An elderly Denville man's home caregiver stole thousands from his estate during 2016, said police on Tuesday.

They said the senior citizen's home health care aid, Sao Brown, 52, of West Orange, took about $8,000 from the financial estate in a series of transactions that were only recently discovered. Police said the thefts took place "over the last year," but they did not provide details of how Brown stole the money.

"At the conclusion of a short investigation," Brown was charged with theft, forgery and altering records, police said. They said he was released pending future court action.
