DENVILLE, NJ - A Denville firefighter was injured battling a blaze in the township's Indian Lake section on Monday morning.

The fire was phoned in to police at 8:48 a.m. The residents were not home at the time of the fire, however a neighbor rescued a dog from the home. A fireman was taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital after a piece of falling debris hit his head. The neighbor that rescued the dog was taken to St. Clare's Hospital, where they were treated and released.

The fire was under control by 10 a.m. but not before six surrounding towns' fire departments were called in for assistance. The towns that responded included Rockaway, Boonton, Boonton Township, Parsippany and Denville. The origin of the fire is being investigated.
