NORTHERN NEW JERSEY – The mild temperatures persisting over the past two days will give way tonight into Wednesday morning, with much colder air and low pressure spreading through the area. With it will come a change from the rain experienced since Monday, to some periodic snow showers Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, probably ending during the morning commute. With the road surfaces having been warmed over the past couple of days, it is unlikely accumulations on roads will occur, however, slippery, icy conditions may exist during the periods of snow.
On higher grassy surfaces, expect a slushy accumulation of anywhere from a light slushy dusting to perhaps as much as two inches. In the far northwest sections of the state, expect to see one to three inches on the untreated surfaces.
The next week brings low expectations for poor winter weather, with an unlikely white Christmas in the forecast.
