DENVILLE, NJ-- The Morris Hills Regional Board of Education met on March 14 to discuss the 2016-2017 budget and the calendar changes due to unused snow days.
During the meeting, the Board of Education determined that while only having used one of the five alloted snow days for the school year, the students in the district would be having an extended Memorial Day weekend. Morris Knolls and Morris Hills will be closed on May 27 and May 31. In addition to Memorial Day weekend, students will be having off on March 28. For students in Morris Knolls only, school will be closed on June 14.
The introduction of the 2016-2017 budget was also on the agenda, with unanimous approval. The board is budgeting for an overall amount of $70,276,782.00. Projects that are included in the budget are plans to resurface the tennis courts at Morris Hills, the installing of a wheelchair lift at Morris Hills, and replacements of the lavatory and concession stand at Morris Hills.
The public hearing of the budget is scheduled for April 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Board offices located at Morris Knolls High School. The meeting on April 25 will also serve as the next regularly scheduled meeting for the board.
