ROCKAWAY, NJ – Morris Knolls defeated Morristown at home, 24-7, on Oct. 6, extending its record to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in its conference division. The offense overpowered Morristown’s defense, scoring a touchdown in three of four quarters and a field goal in the second. The Golden Eagles defense was nearly impenetrable, holding the Colonials to just one touchdown in the second quarter.
Three Golden Eagles put points on the scoreboard. Senior Brydon Gibbs scored the first touchdown of the game in the second quarter with an eight-yard carry. Two drives later, with less than three minutes remaining in the half, senior Ryan McEntee kicked a field goal. Junior Scott Pirrello scored the last two touchdowns of the game with a 35-yard carry in the third quarter and a 15-yard carry in the fourth. McEntee made all three extra points.
Before the start of the game, Morris Knolls recognized its senior players: Nick Baranello, Chris Chegwidden, Connor Chegwidden, Kevin Doranne, Nick de la Fuente, Joe DeSimone, Patrick Farrell, Pat Gallagher, Brydon Gibbs, Zaheim Hibbert, Michael Kaiser, David Kleiner, Chris Marra, Ryan McEntee, Luke Nienstadt, Mauricio Pino, Jack Salemi and Sean Sedwick. Most thanked their parents for their continuing love and support and recalled overtime victories against Mt. Olive this year or Randolph last year as their favorite Morris Knolls football memory.
Morris Knolls next travels to Roxbury on Fri, Oct. 12, for a 7 p.m. start.
