ROCKAWAY, NJ -- The Morris Knolls girls soccer team extended its record to 2-0 with a victory at home against Mendham on Thursday, Sept. 13. Junior Madison Palma led the offense with two goals.

In addition to Palma’s skillful play, the Golden Eagles’ strong defenders also contributed to the team’s success, according to Coach Stephan Zdanowicz. The tenacity of the goalie (junior Kate Walsh) and the back line (seniors Gabby Lara and Casey Morren, and junior Brielle Gavito) has left Morris Knolls’ opponents scoreless so far this season.

Ranked among the top 20 teams in New Jersey, Morris Knolls opened its season with a 2-0 victory against the Lady Rams at Randolph. Palma scored one goal and junior Maddison Perna scored the other.

The reigning Morris County Tournament champions face West Morris Central at home on Saturday, Sept. 15, 9:30 a.m.
