For the third consecutive year, the Northern New Jersey Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi has donated 500 books to Preschool Advantage in honor of their Fraternity Day of Service.  Read > Lead > Achieve® is Pi Beta Phi’s philanthropic effort to inspire a lifelong love of reading while sparking the child’s imagination and igniting their desire to learn while creating a more literate and productive society.

This year, Pi Beta Phi will be celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2017 by impacting one million lives through Read > Lead > Achieve®.  Throughout the years, Pi Phis has donated one million dollars to literacy causes and given one million books to children in need.

“The work that Preschool Advantage does in Morris and Somerset Counties is invaluable, and the Northern New Jersey Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi is pleased to be able to help Preschool Advantage for the third year in a row,” said Laura Purcell, Northern New Jersey Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi Club President.

Molly Dunn, Executive Director of Preschool Advantage, accepted the gift on behalf of the organization, noting that “Preschool Advantage is honored to be selected by Pi Beta Phi to receive these wonderful books for our young students.”  Preschool Advantage encourages families to read together at home each night in order to maximize their child’s learning experience; the donated books help make this possible for families in the program.  Preschool Advantage’s mission is to launch a lifetime of learning for children in our communities whose families want the best possible start for their child, but cannot afford the cost of a quality preschool.
